Alone With Ghosts

Alone With Ghosts takes the reader to a distant planet where Melsa Kurnan is trying to cling to life in the face of very unpromising odds. She has a team of ghostly help, a disembodied support staff, whose aid she can summon at will, but she finds them very annoying at times.

The tech stuff in this story is solid. Very intriguing, in fact. It is presented well and forms a good backbone for the story. I understand that it is important for Melsa to panic, but does she have to be quite such a marshmallow? She cries a bit too much for my liking. She could be a bit tougher, still panic to some degree, and retain the reader's respect.

My only other comment is that Robert Stephenson could use a good spell-checker, as it's a bit distracting to find misspelled words in an otherwise excellent story. The ending is one I had not expected, and tied up the story very exquisitely.
