Ken Goldman has written a sad footnote to an ordinary life. A simple man trying to earn money as all of us do and feeling as though it's for nought. Only this teacher does something about it in his "simple and concise" way. It is a surprise ending for something that seems to be leading to something tremendous. A little understated but definately befitting of the simple and concise Herbert Sanders. The author has captured the feel of a high school english class to a perfect balance- vacant stares and idiotic grins. Well written and within a believable character at all times, this work is a definate read- but not when you are feeling down about yourself!
