Mark is on a date. He is disabled. He is having a great time. An intrusive woman wants to tell him about the healing powers of Jesus. Interested? I was.
The authors ability to write simply with nouns and verbs (I hate a lot of adjectives and adverbs) gives this piece an easy and clean feel. If only there weren't so many contradictions. Mark and Elaine are in their own magical universe -- but on the first date? One minute Mark wants nothing to do with the woman, the next he is engaging her in a conversation about his spirituality. One minute he says he is saved, the next he is telling her to fuck off. And I am still scratching my head about the twist at the end. "What twist?" you say. Read it and see.
