The (apparent) sole Texan survivor of a nuclear strike come out of his hiding place to meet yet another life-threatening experience, and one that leaves a sour taste at that. Sorry. Can't say much about this one except disciplining oneself to do the research helps the reader to believe you know what you're talking about. It is a well-known plot basis, and needs considerable care to put across, particularly because it is a short short story.
