Corporate Revolutionary
Corporate Revolutionary is a very angry story. The narrator works for "Big Media", and has a hard time dealing with his contempt for his job, his bosses and by extension, himself for aiding and abetting capitalism. He thinks of a way to cause major havoc in his office building, and carries out the plan with two co-conspirators who also hate the "stuffed shirts" they work for.
This story is disturbing. At times it appears to be almost tongue-in-cheek, in a Dilbert sort of way, but the language used is very harsh. I question the need for the revolutionaries to show movies on Kate Moss' ass, for instance. The author captures the climate of feverish capitalism in the office building very well, and I had no sympathy for the victims of the narrator's plot. However, the narrator comes off sounding just a bit too contemptuous to get the reader on his side. Revolutionaries can only get away with being completely nasty when their adversaries are nastier...
The ending is good, and I almost felt sorry for the narrator, until the line about "You'll be real sorry..." Ouch.
