Full Circle

A school bus stops, three children get out. They go home, as they have done many times before. But this day is different, it is a day of death. This is a story about a crime, a crime so disgusting it makes the first policeman on the scene vomit. It is also a story about revenge.

The writing is strong. The scenes powerful. The story will hold your interest.

On the craft side, I have two comments.

First, the author broke every rule about points of view, switching from omniscient, to first person, to third, sometimes inside the same scene. Every writing book cautions against doing this in a story, but not in a novel. The story still worked for me, but the author might want to rethink that style for general publication.

Second, the author should have given equal time to the revenge scene. It was glossed over at the end. Since there was little left to the imagination in the blood and gore scenes, the writer should have done the same for the resolution, otherwise this reader felt cheated.

Druid, don't be misled by the criticism. I am toughest on the most promising. Keep it up, and keep sending the stories in.
