Of all the stories I have read here at SSC that could be called "Surprise Ending Stories", this one I favor the most.

The author has a power of description that seems wasted on such a trivial piece. The prose is concise and compelling, and gives little away. There are some nice images in this one.

It is worth the few minutes it takes to read it. Something longer by this author, with characters to be compassionate for, written in this flavor, could surely catch my attention.
