The Native American is about a piece of folklore concerning talking animals and the powers that they have. Coyote relates a story to a Hawk about how he has tricked Swift-Hawk, a very unhappy Indian boy. After the story ends, Kokopelli, another Indian wagers Coyote that he can reverse the damage Coyote has done- without the help of his magic flute. Coyote loses the bet and all is once again well with the Indians.
The end of this story is a bit anti-climatic after all the explainations in the story. Although colorful descriptions were given, it left me with a feeling of just wanting to skim it for the important parts and to see what happened to Swift-Hawk.
