Necropolis

Sir Randolph is entrusted by his King to go forth and discover what has frightened a man to death in the Black Plains -- a region that had not been visited for years. Randolph leads three others to an ominous city, where they discover that within the walls, all have been killed, and that they themselves cannot leave once inside. There is never a dull moment.

The author has unfurled a keen plot in this piece, but it reads as though he was in a rush to finish it. More time should have been taken to build some suspense -- an art in itself. There are some horrific scenes in this one, but they come up a bit lame because of lack of suspense.

The characters are interesting, but thinly presented -- they come from nowhere, and return there just as suddenly. There is a need to tie up some loose ends in this story as well. Keep it tight.

All in all, it is fast paced, and shows terrific imagination and potential.
