One Last Embrace, My Love

My first impression of "One Last Embrace, My Love," is that it doesnt belong under the "general" heading. This is a romance, with just a pinch of subtle horror tossed into the mix. Not that this is a weakness; on the contrary, this is a powerful story of a womans great love and the extremes she will go to for her love. "One Last Embrace, My Love" is beautifully written, with the economy of words that is the trademark of a good short story. The author has a wonderful gift for description. I felt as if I had been thrust right into the Caribbean, basking in the warm sun. I was also struck by the foreshadowing in the story. There is one well placed sentence that gives the reader an idea of what is to come, yet it is so subtle that it goes by almost unnoticed.

I had a little difficulty believing the ending. It just seemed a bit too fantastic and it caused me to wonder about the main character. It was a bit pathetic that her whole existence was centered on another person to the extent that she didnt think she could live without him. The whole idea seems a bit archaic.

That, however, is a subjective point and I suggest you read this story to make your own decisions. This is a very well written piece. It looks as if the author took his time working on this and I suggest taking time to read. Its a wonderful story.
