"Oh Mister Samuels" is fun story about what can happen when we make major changes in our lives. It is potentially sad, but has a happy twist in it, that saves it from being completely dismal. Best of all, the story reminds us to not expect the worst, until we are absolutely certain the worst has occurred. Les Weil, as usual, shows great imagination. There is only one real character in the story, and in a very short time, the reader has a pretty good idea of who he is, as well as his situation.
Unfortunately, this good story is marred by an overuse of the passive voice. I would not say that this made this story laborious to read, it didn t, but it was distracting at times. It made an otherwise great tale, merely, "good." The story was interesting, but the abundance of "wass," "weres," and "had beens" kept it from being completely engaging.
Apart from that, this is a good story, by a promising writer. It is well worth the taking the time to read. Enjoy.
