This humorous story centers around an old Texas cowboy named Sam. Sam visits his daughter and son-in-law, whom he has very little in common with except procreation. The experience Sam has while staying in his daughter's house, with her Korean houseboy and Mexican gardener, is hilarious.
The author captures the character of an old Texas cowboy perfectly. We have old Florida cowboys where we live, and they are fascinating to listen to. You should read this story just to experience the values and the character of this valiant, but dying breed.
My only comment on craft is that the author could have milked the Rub-A Dub-Dub scene for more. He set it up beautifully, and it would have been interesting to have dialogue from all three participants, and perhaps a few funny allusions dealing with the fact the old cowboy was naked.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read, with a surprise ending. Keep up the good work, R.W., and send in more stories.
