Replacements

e landed on a unknown planet. The air barely had the percentages of oxygen and other gases needed to support carbon based life forms. My escape pods crew decided to look for a place to set up a settlement. It didn't seem likely that any rescue crew would be coming within the decade. I don't know what happened to the other hundred settlers on the ship, or the crew. As far as I can tell the twenty men, women and children from my escape pod are all that is left.

There of plenty of metals on this planet, Nova Gaia we decided to call it after our home world. Unfortunately metals can't be eaten, beacuse other than some small plants Nova Gaia is a barren desert world. There doesn't seem to be any sources of water either. The supplies from the escape pod should be able to sustain us for a year. After that... well I'd rather not think that far ahead yet.

Today I woke up to find vegetation everywhere. There are trees, bushes, grass, streams and even a lake. I don't understand this, I know that yesterday there was nothing, and now there is life everywhere.

I asked someone today if they knew what happened, and they looked at me as though I was insane. I've asked other people and recieved similar reactions. Everyone has forgotten about the crash and the planet before. The last person who talked to me said," You'll understand tonight." Now they refuse to speak to me.

I was afraid of what would happen during the tonight, so I asked to be on the night watch. I stayed up all night. Around midnight the sky filled with bright green light. I stared at it not understanding what was happening. Then a beam of light hit me. I could feel myself being pulled upwards. I looked down I wasn't being pulled upwards my body was right there, but I was being pulled upwards. Then I realized what was happening I was being replaced. Everything and everybody had already been replaced, except me. Now we have all been replaced.
