What is the narrator of this story? - a Vulcan!!! If you can get past the character staying conscious through the opening experience you are in for a story with a difference, a twist, and then another twist.

The second twist is a little out of character with the rest of the story, as there is no hint of the conclusion. Perhaps it would be a stronger story without the final explanation, although the genre would alter.

I do have a slight problem with the narrator commenting on the telling of the tale, when he is meant to be reliving it in a shock induced stupor, but that is just me.

In my opinion this story could do with less words, don�t include words just because they sound good if they don�t add to the story or characterization. I know its hard, I�ve done it too, but its important, an inappropriate or superfluous word can destroy rhythm and atmosphere.

This is a strange, distinct story, read it and make up your own mind.
