With all of those kids...what was she to do?
Her cupboards were bare - here groceries were few -
Their clothing was old - nothing was new.
Who would now pay - or, who could she sue?

Should she get a lawyer - should she go to court?
Make someone responsible - why should her funds be short?
(She has these ten kids - she could not abort!)
What's one to do in a life of this sort?

She could just go on welfare - just stand in line..
Get all you can - "I want mine, mine, mine!"
And she could get foodstamps so they could all dine -
Or she could just sit at home and whine, whine, whine.

The girl of the 90s heard of her fate -
And met with the woman to help change her state -
"Come on, old woman - get up to date!
I'm here to help you - you'll learn not to hate
yourself - and your life - YOU determine your fate."

Life should be great - it's not all that bad.
You CHOOSE to be happy or you CHOOSE to be sad.
You CHOOSE to be angry and you CHOOSE to be mad.
But...the choices you make COULD make you glad."

To live in a house or to live in a shoe
are decisions you make - it's all up to you.
Go get a great job - try anything new - to
make your life happen: Get a new point of view.

So the old woman who lived in a shoe
moved into a condo - tried something new.
She got a new vision and then saw it through -
