Snow White and the 7 hits of ACiD
In this day and age usually nothing surprises me. Today, however, I was shocked by the carnage inflicted upon this Grimm's Fairytale. The tale has been changed from a battle over beauty to a battle over carnal longings.
The beginning started out interesting enough but as the story progressed, I was lead through awkward writing and a few grammatical errors that made all the difference in good reading. At one point I was not sure who was speaking because both women are continually referred to as "she". The paragraph transitions were poor and "Like separate, mixed up parts of a puzzle, begin re-united rather oddly." is rather and awkward piece of writing!
Aside from these crippling factors, there are a few points raised: 1. If Ms. McDonald's has a father that is the head of a chemical research lab, why is she working at Mc D's? Surely she could find a few new men to peruse at the lab! 2. How did she get the hits of acid? Did she ask her father or brew it herself (therefore returning to question one)? 3. What do the "naked" men have to do with anything. Sure, they are supposed to be the dwarfs but naked? 4.The reader is left wondering why the meeting with the men was so "extraordinary". 5. The fact that the consequences of the acid are told before Snow White takes the hits makes for dull reading- no suspense. 6. The tie that the men have to the story is weak at best. 7. Why would the men pick Snow White as the exception to the eternity rule? 8. The eighty-nine year old woman dying is a poor attempt at shock value. 9. The footnote (it's moral, by the way, not morale!) is proof that nothing more than this rendition was influenced by some heavy drugs and alcohol. 10. A moral goes with Aesops Fables, not the Grimm Brothers.
But... if you like this sort of free flowing, "I have no clue to reality" sort of story on a Saturday night then by all means read it! It might make more sense then........
