Teddy Talk

of", said Teddy quitely as he was thrown onto the floor. She'd be gone soon, then he could move and talk like a real teddy. He heard the car start up and pull away.

"Phew!" said Woe as he stood up and stretched.

"You got it," agreed Sam in his low voice. He stretched his stripey paws and waved his tail.

"It's so good to move again", said Honey straightening her bow tie.

"Yeah," agreed Michael, bending down and touching his toes.

"What are we going to do today?" asked Peskie, wriggling his beak and straightening his apron.

"Why don't we explore the house?" suggested Blinky, rubbing his sore feet.

"Nah, we did that yesterday," said Snowy, looking down at his white paws.

"Why don't we go outside," said Teddy.

"Yeah!" agreed Leigh as he straightened Jonathon's bow tie.

The teddies, koala, tiger and platypus trooped out the window and through the gap in the screen.

"What do we do first?" exclaimed Woe in awe.

"Let's go on that big black thing" said Sam.

"It's too big!" wailed Jonathon.

"I'll lift everyone up," volunteered Honey. "No, you're not tall enough," said Teddy.

"We'll need rope". He climbed back in the window and came back with a skipping rope.

"Now, to the big black thing," said Peskie.

They trooped down to the trampoline. By standing on Honey's shoulders, Teddy managed to put Woe on the trampoline before he fell down.

"Here!" yelled Snowy as he threw the rope to Woe. Woe let it down and Michael and Jonathon grabbed it. Woe pulled them up and let it down again. Soon they were all standing on the trampoline except for Honey, who was the biggest.

"How do I get up?" she wailed.

"We'll have to use this," said Teddy, holding up a brick he'd found.

They tied the rope to Honey and the other end to the brick. Blinky dropped the brick and Honey came flying up.

"Yeay," everyone cheered.

They started jumping. They jumped higher and higher, faster and faster. They jumped so high that Michael fell over the fence, screaming as he fell. Everyone rushed to the fence.

"Michael are you okay?" yelled Blinky.

"No, I hurt my leg," said Michael.

"How are we going to get him back over?" said Leigh to Teddy in hushed tones.

"I don't know," said Teddy fretfully, "I really don't know".

"Why doesn't Honey jump over and lift him up?" suggested Jonathon.

"But then how would you get me back over?" asked Honey doubtfully.

"We could do the same thing we did for the big black thing," said Woe getting excited.

"Ok," said Honey with a sigh. She jumped over, landing hard on her stomach.

"You alright?" called Leigh.

"Yeah," Honey called back. She stood up and walked over to Michael.

"Can you stand up?" HOney asked.

"I think so," said Michael. He stood up. Honey tied the rope around his waist.

"Okay," she shouted. Teddy dropped the brick and Michawl came shooting over the fence.

"Oh Michael, are you okay?" yelled everyone as they stampeded to hug him.

"Hey, what about me?" came the yell over the fence.

"We'd better pull her up," said Leigh. So they let the rope over the fence. In no time at all, Honey was standing next to them.

"Let's go back inside," she said. Everyone agreed. In a short while they were all sitting on the bed. Honey was bandaging Michael's leg.

"Now what?" said Teddy.

"Let's watch tv," said Snowy.

"Good idea," agreed Blinky. Jonathon went over and turned it on.

"Oh good, 'Sesame Street's' on," said Sam.

"That can only mean one thing..." trailed Teddy.

At that moment they heard the car in the drive. It was a mad rush to have everything as it had been that morning. The door opened...

"Oh good, nothing's moved," she said.
