This short story gives an insight into the boredom felt by Sam during a faculty meeting. The beauty of the story lies in the fact that Sam could be me or you (unless of course you are Dr Johns!), at any sort of business related meeting.
Dr Johns (he of riveting presentations) has an agenda which is centred on honouring the value of students and gaining as much money as possible for his most worthwhile programs to ensure that they are of maximum benefit to the beloved students.
Sam has another agenda altogether, and one altogether frowned upon in the halls of academia.
The story manages to convey a sense of factions, tensions, and goodwill between like-minded work colleagues. I would have liked the story more if there was a little more character development, so that the repetition of the lectures provided at the meeting could have been shown through attitude rather than monologue (I know, I know - that is purely a personal taste thing).
If youve ever been in a meeting at work, you know the one, the one were lots of stuff gets resolved, really, really useful stuff - read this, and youll be taken back there.
