Our main character, Norman Wallace, dies and is taken on a trip through the next world. He has a delay in Chicago and he begins to wonder what his chances for heaven and hell are like. Going through his humorous flight, Norman finally makes it to the decision panel. When he finally gets to his resting place, he talks to God and even builds a family. This piece takes the most ordinary part of life- and the most feared and turns it into an everyday walk through man made paper work lines and so forth. With matter-of-fact humor, it brings a smile to your lips and almost, but not quite, makes you forget about being afraid of death.
