This story is descriptively written, but I fail to see the point beyond general musings. A young man has a bit of a conversation with a man on a wharf and goes on his way. I don't see that some deed has been performed or some realization has come to light. The whole piece seems to be a bit stilted as though the writer wanted to say something important but had no idea how to say it. The writer has good description but needs to show the reader more the point of the description.
