This is a very well written vignette about a lonely person and her thoughts as she stands in the check-out queue at a supermarket. I think Richard's skill in prose-writing has improved a lot. He really captures the feeling exceptionally well. It is good. It has feeling. But Richard, where is the rest of the story?
