In this story a father tries to teach his daughter some of life's lessons while giving away puppies. Stephanie, 13, is eager to give the puppies away and to listen to her father's life lessons. During the afternoon rush at a store the girl anticipates giving away everyone of the puppies because this is a busy time of the day and lots of the shoppers will be there.

Many promise to return later but the truth is they never do. Sadly they take all the puppies back with them vowing to return tomorrow. Father tells her a fable of two groups of men eating with overlong spoon handles. Cooperation is the theme.

Will the lesson take root? Follow the tale as they both learn a lesson of life. The ending is a wry one that shows that in life we all can learn anew the lessons we thought we knew before. A nice tale by Thomas with food for thought.
