The Snow Globe

Julie's life is going fine. She has a new house, a job, and a boyfriend who loves her. But are things really fine, or is there heartbreak waiting? She has a chance to make a deal with an angel to make sure everything stays good. But is it really an angel? There's only one way to find out, mate. You have to read the story.

This story was superbly written, considering the author was 13, or even older. The characters were developed nicely, the descriptions were accurate, and the plot hung together and held surprises.

On the craft side, I would suggest the author give clues about people in their actions. For instance, when the boyfriend comes to the door, Julie could think, "That must be Chris." Then Julie could show by a kiss or a hug that Chris is her boyfriend. Then, by showing Chris where to put a chair, we would learn he was helping her unload the furniture. By giving information in the form of action, it draws a reader in, and makes the reader feel like they are really there, watching the story unfold.

The author is a talented young writer, and I would strongly encourage her to keep sending more stories to us.
